High inbound packet loss in discord

    Hello,

since yesterday I have experienced a high inbound packet loss in discord. I ran a speedtest but the results were normal. After that I ran a packet loss test and it confirmed I had high download packet loss. So I thought it is the ISP and I can’t do anything about it. But today I ran those tests again and everything was fine. Speed was normal and packet loss was at 0.2% which should be acceptable. But in Discord I still have an inbound packet loss of 30 - 60%. We tried to switch servers and none of my friends experience this. I have normal access to all internet sites I normally use and steam downloads are as fast as always. I haven’t tried to call my ISP, since packet loss in general seems to be at a normal level again. Should I do that first or is the problem more likely on my end?

Thanks a lot for your help

While you wait for other to come in.
Do you have the same issue if you use the web based version of discord?
Have you updated to the newest version of discord?

Yes, I tried the web version in chrome and in Edge. The application was updated to the latest version and I reinstalled it. Still noch change. Maybe worth notinh, in the web version it took maybe 3 seconds for the packet loss to start

Might be worth checking with discord to see if they are having issues on their end.
Check your setting I know sometimes after updates some things get reset.

Since you also mentioned that others are not having the issue where are they located compared to you?
Are they on the same servers?
Is this just happening on the one system or any others in your house?

My friends live just a few kilometers away and are on the same server so I don’t think this is a server issue and rather a problem on my end of the line. But I am not sure whether it is the ISP or some local problem on my machine

              Thank you

Have you rebooted the Modem and Router (if you have one)

How do you connect to the internet? Wired or Wireless?

If Wireless the see if it happens Wired.

Did you ever double check your settings?

Have you checked you security settings on your computer?

Checked my settings and everything. Tried it on mobile, same result. I connect with my PC with Lan or WiFi, I have this problem with both. My phone just uses WiFi. Just rebooted my router, still no change. I don’t know what security options to check, but I haven’t made any changes there, at least no intentional changes.

I just tried to connect to discord via hotspot from my phone and I have no packet loss. I am going to call my ISP tomorrow. Thanks for your help so far
