Lost Router password

Hello guys. I seem to be in real trouble and I hope someone can help.
After several years I have bought a new smart TV with the intention of connecting it to my network to use Netflix and Utube.
I already have a TV connected to both these mediums for video streaming.
On setting up the new TV, it requires the original password for my router.
This is long forgotten. Is there some way of retrieving the password or starting again with a new one.?

Have you looked on the bottom of the Router some times there is a sticker there that carries that information.
Other wise you will need to refer to the manufactures website for that information.

If you reset it back to default then check what the default password is http://www.routerpasswords.com/

Thanks everyone. First Dougie. It is a NETGEAR Telstra 282D-5G supplied by Telstra as part of the connection package.
Rusties The router came with a plastic card like a credit card. This I think had a number on it. Cant find it.
Samuria. I am looking at this now but my NETGEAR number is not listed. I have to try some numbers to see if they work as they are saying on the site that NETGEAR uses common numbers for several routers.
Thanks, that site helps a lot.
Will let you know when I succeed.

For my Telstra Netgear modem/Router,

The user name is
admin
.
The default password is
password

. The user name and
password are case-sensitive

This is default to access all Telstra Netgear Modem/Routers.

Just to add to what Dougie said, if you have previously changed the password from the default you will have to reset the device before the default username and password will be reset. This is normally done by inserting a paper clip into a reset hole usually in the rear, and holding it in for 10-15 seconds.

Thanks to you all especially Dougie who revealed the default passwords but top marks to Gus and his paper clip fix.
That was invaluable information as it in fact was my own password that was the problem.
Once known it seems so simple.
Problem fixed with thanks.
