Third party apps won't upload/fetch older emails

Since very recently I’m having an issue with reading emails, the apps on the phone won’t fetch older emails, they all seem to stop at 5th September and no older than that. I have tried quite a few apps, spark, outlook, k-9, aqua, thunderbird.. same story. The only way I can read older emails is via Thunderbird on the PC. I have contacted OVH (my web hosting) and they said I may have cancelled older emails by accident, that is absolutely impossible. I also checked that IMAP and POP settings are correct, uninstalled and reinstalled apps using both methods, and I made sure I didn’t set limits on loading and syncing, still incoming emails up to 5th September. Sent emails are fully loaded.

Not sure what to check still, also, since OVH is mentioning a steep fee to recover deleted emails, I wonder if, while I still see them on Thunderbird via PC, I should save them just in case, we’re talking emails since 2005. What do you do in these cases, just copy and paste into a new folder? Thanks.

I’d certainly copy the emails to another folder or even forward them to another account.

Does the email account require 2fa? If yes then you might need an app specific password. Which apps are you using?

Check to see if the account is set to hide emails older than x days or read emails. Most likely this would require accessing the account via webmail (if offered).

So far I have copied them into another folder in Thunderbird of the same account, it’s about 80,000 emails, is it possible to save them in Thunderbird so they can be imported into another account instead of forwarded?

I don’t use Thunderbird so am not sure. I’ve done it for one or two emails & saved them to a Gmail folder on my iPad though & they’ve synced to other devices ok.

Okay thanks I’ll do that. In the meantime OVH suggested it could be a POP configuration somewhere that is saving email locally and prevents to see them on their server, a bit sceptical about this explanation as it all happened without me doing anything different than usual, plus we’re talking about older emails only, but I’ll look at that as well.

Microsoft accounts have been changed so that emails older than 30-60 days are now hidden. It’d be unusual if an imap account changed to pop.
