    Ethernet Connection Issues

Known Issue: My computer recognizes that I am connected to internet (through an Ethernet cable) but will not work. When looking at task manager it says that I am receiving at most a few hundred Kbs but sending 0. Though when looking in ethernet settings it says that the connection is at 100 mb/s but nothing that requires a network connection will work.

    [ol]
    [li]Pretty sure its not:[/li]
    1. [li]Cable: Tested on other devices and connection is established and working[/li][li]Wall Port: Also test on another device and connection is established and working[/li][/ol]

    [ol]
[li]Steps already taken to solve the issue:[/li]
    1. [li]Restarted the PC[/li][li]Full power down and back up[/li][li]Updated windows[/li][li]Updated all drivers[/li][li]Updated BIOS[/li][li]Updated all BIOS drivers[/li][li]Checked proxy settings[/li][li]I have no VPN[/li][li]Updated power settings[/li][li]Reset Network[/li][li]Changed fixed IP [/li][li]Factory Reset my PC[/li][li]Factory Reset with Windows media creation tool[/li][li]Changed to Linux (Mint) Operating System[/li][/ol]

Something that I think is also really odd: When plugging in my USB Wi-Fi antenna, Wi-Fi works just fine

It is fully possible that I missed something, even that is small. I like to consider myself good with technology, but this is outside my knowledge at this point. At this point it is hard for me to think it is a software issue seeing as it has crossed different Operating Systems (unless there are special drives needed for Linux, that I did not know of seeing as I am not the most familiar to it). Though, if it was a hardware issue why is the computer recognizing it? Also, the lights in the back are flashing that it is working, if it was broken wouldn’t those not flash? I have extensively looked over the Motherboard and see nothing wrong, and this happened while it was running. How/ why would the hardware all the sudden break for no reason? Seeing as I use this computer for school, any help would be nice. Let me know if you need anything more (I can go back to windows if that makes it easier to fix).

    Computer Specs:
    [ul]
    [li]CPU: Intel i9-9900k[/li][li]GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 3GB (yes, I know I need to upgrade)[/li][li]Memory: 16gb DDR4 3200 MHz[/li][li]1 TB HHD[/li][li]1 TB SSD[/li][li]Motherboard: Aorus z390 Pro[/li][/ul]

Sorry that was long, but I thought all the info I could give would make this easier.

so on ethernet cable, no connection but on wireless connect, all good - yes?

the flashing LEDs on the ethernet ports, and the Kbs download stats are probably just the handshaking and polling the network does with β€œare you still there?” requests.

if so, have you tried changing cables?
how do you connect, ethernet straight from PC to modem or via hub/switch, or router?

set the ethernet adapter to auto settings?
does the modem have MAC filtering turned on?

Yes I have tried changing cables
I live in a college dorm, there is like a wall outlet where we can plug our ethernet cables into. On the same point, routers are not allowed.
I do not know what you mean by auto settings, if you mean by IP and DNS then yes I have tried that. I changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. and then back to auto and nothing happened (nor did anything when leaving it on the manual DNS)

in that case, you would need to talk to the IT Department of the college as they probably have some sort of criteria when allowing devices on their network.
things like a specific IP address range, or software you need to install, or a portal you need to log on to - any number of things.
