Cannot get anything on my screen

    Hello ! Please help,

I have an Acer SA 90 A97Z PC with no HDMI port. So I use a blue vga cable to go from my Samsung monitor to the blue vga port on my PC. So far so good. The monitor is a Samsung S22C300H.

I connect up the Ethernet cable from the PC ethernet port to the back of my router at the yellow LAN port number 3. I connect everything else up such as keyboard, speakers and mouse. Then I switch on my PC and the router. I cannot get anything on the moniitor screen but a message saying no signal. My telephone socket on the wall has two ports one for a telephone landline and the other one is the one used to connect a wire from it to the router red internet port.

What have I done wrong? Why can’t I get the internet on my PC? I can use wi fi and get the internet on my mobile device? I am stuck please help.

Are you saying that if you disconnect the Ethernet cable the screen works again.

No. All I get is a message on my monitor saying No signal analogue No signal HDMI. That is all. All wires are connected including Ethernet. I did not take any cable out after I placed them in their respective ports.

I get nothing on my screen only a No Signal message.

You normally get the No Signal message when the screen detects that a video cable is connected to it but that there is no video signal coming through the cable from the device at the other end, in this instance your PC.

The computer is going to need to be opened up for investigation i`m afraid.

Could it be a case of no graphics card?

The specs that I could find for the computer say that the motherboard had integrated graphics + a PCI-E slot for an add on video card, we have no way of knowing if you have both and need you to check to see if there are two video ports on the back of the computer.

If there are two video ports on the back of the computer swap the cable to the other port.

What happens when there is both integrated and add on graphics available is the onboard gets disabled by default when an add on card is detected by the BIOS, this even if the add on card is not working.

If you are able to take and upload a picture of the ports at the back of the case it would be a great help.
