    .ost File Transfer

    Hey all,
My neighbor just got a new computer, and I spent 8 HOURS setting it up. I reset the windows installation and re-did her applications at least 5 times before I realized the factory installation of it was garbage, and used the Dell recovery media and drivers to help me start from scratch. Anyway, we finished, and everything is set up. However, she uses Microsoft Office Outlook as her email program, and on her old computer, she had tons and tons of folders on the left side bar of the program where she stored here complicated business stuff. Those did not load on to her new computer after adding her Microsoft Exchange email account, and I’m assuming I have to transfer over the old Outlook data file (.ost) from her old computer’s AppData to her new computer’s AppData. Now, I know how to access that file and everything, but is it as simple as moving it from the old location and in to the same new location? Or do I export it using the Outlook account settings? Please let me know, thanks in advance..

PS: I didn’t find any .pst files in the old hard drive. Not sure if it’s important or not, but there you go…

.PST files are for β€˜personal’ email accounts, like POP and IMAP and can be imported to the new PC.
.OST are used for β€˜online’ email accounts that have been configured as Exchange accounts and if configured with the same username, they should re-sync down to that new PC just as there were on the old - but that may take awhile depending on web speed and amount of email items.

Yessir. For whatever reason, I can’t find the option to mark it solved by myself…
