    This website keeps opening itself

    Hello,

Yesterday i was looking through Chrome for a video downloader

I already had Video Downloadhelper but i thought i’d try some others

Anyway none of the ones i installed could download the video i wanted so i removed their extensions

But now this page opens by itself seemingly at random intervals Redirecting...

Anyone any idea why or what i could do?

I have deleted the Video Downloadhelper but it still pops up

    James

g’day Jim and welcome to the forums,
with all your searching for, and downloading of, video helpers, you probably got some sort of gremlin.
a Moderator/Administrator will probably move this thread to the appropriate forum and start helping you troubleshoot your issue.

Hi jiminwatford, and welcome to PCHF.

For starters lets clean your chrome. Remember chrome is a very secure browser, but it’s the extensions that can cause Chrome to become a source of all sorts of garbage.

        Open Chrome
Click the 3 dots to the right hand end of your url/browser toolbar.
Click on β€œHistory” on the drop down menu.
Click β€œHistory” again on the new menu.
        Then click β€œClear browsing data”
Then proceed as per pic below.

Alternatively you can click the 3 dots, then click β€œMore tools”, then β€œClear browsing data” to get to the dialogue box above.

Lets us know if any change?

            So far so good

Before your reply i tried the guides on here https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove...e-from-chrome/

The Malwarebytes AdwCleaner seemed to find a couple of things

Around an hour later i followed your advice

The PC has been on for a few hours now with no sign of the website coming up

            Thanks
            James

                Yeh it’s gone!

I think the Malwarebytes AdwCleaner did it but i followed Gus’ advice soon after so not sure which one got rid of it

                Thanks
