Advice please, seems my processor isn't Win 11 ready, maybe my board too.

Hi all,

My Intel Core i7479K CPU is flagged by PC Health Check as not supported. I thought it should be OK? I could consider upgrading it if my board will allow, but I still have to check whether the ASUSTeK Z97 GAMER PRO board supports TPM 2.0. Does it mean digging through the BIOS …? I guess these are my two questions.

The homebrew PC is 11 or 12 years old but still runs all games and processes video as fast as I need. I don’t want to be scared by M$ (oooh, security!) into upgrading to a new machine next year when this one is still fine.

It will require a newer cpu - core 10 or higher:

TPM 2.0 which is enabled under the BIOS.
If it’s 10-12 years old then it will not have these.

That’s excellent, thank you Bastet. I’ll investigate whether my board will take one of the required processors and whether my Corsair processor air cooler might service it too without becoming noisy. I’m just thinking ahead for later next year, better to be prepared in advance.

On top of that 24H2 will require SSE 4.2 capable cpu.

I wouldn’t worry too much, Win10 is going to be fine for a few more years yet!
