    Weird Sync problems

Hello! I’m now facing a weird issue, that my laptop creates the icons of what my Computer has installed on it. But just the icons.

Why is it doing it, nad how to turn it off?

It’s logged in as Local account. I belive that the same email was used in registration.

The laptop has w11, while the pc has w10.

    Can you supply a screenshot?
Does this affect all icons or just those on the desktop or in the taskbar?

If you right click on those icons does the shortcut still point to the actual program?
If you uninstall then reinstall the program is the icon still white?
        Try these:
        Reset thumbnail cache:

        Or: Rebuild icon cache:

        Still good for Win 11.

If the program was installed then the icon should’ve been removed during the uninstall, as it hasn’t been then the icon will be blank as there’s no .ico file for the program in the folder the shortcut points to.
If you didn’t install the programs at all then it’s possible someone has access to your pc either via remote access or physically & they installed the program then deleted the programs’ files/folder leaving the desktop shortcut.

Even if you’re signing in to both devices with the same account they shouldn’t sync program files. Are you using OneDrive to backup the PC? I can only thing that this has restored those icons from the pc to the laptop.

First you would need to ensure that any wanted files are set to keep on device. Then just uninstall OneDrive if not needed, if it is then you can turn off OneDrive’s backup feature.
