PC crashed after BIOS upate, shows error screens after boot

    Hello,

I updated my HP Elitebook (2018) BIOS and it crashed afterwards. When I start my PC now, it shows either a blue error screen that asks me to boot from a repair tool and gives me the opportunity to go into the UEFI menu or into the Windows repair screen.

I tried to use a fresh Windows installation, but whenever I use the Windows repair option to boot from my USB drive, my PC just restarts. And whatever I do with the UEFI menu, it also just makes the PC restart. Also, I don’t know why, but the Windows repair screen is french? The rest is in English, just the repair screen is in french. It gives me the option to choose languages, but no matter which I chose, it just stays in French, and I can’t even scroll the language select, I only see languages that start with A.

    What can I do?

    Thanks

Can I ask why you updated the BIOS, were you already having problems with the notebook.

Have you checked for a pre installed HP recovery partition by continually tapping the F11 key when you restart the notebook.

The system recommended me the update. I had my laptop on the charger during the update and I can see in the UEFI that the update seems to have been completed

      I did, didn’t help sadly

I attached a pic of the screen of what pops up when I boot.

Maybe I have the wrong thing on my recovery drive. I have a Windows 11 ISO on it

If you have access to another system, you try the HP cloud recovery tool -this is NOT A WINDOWS MEDIA CREATION TOOL, and it will restore your system to factory default settings (W10).

You will need a USB stick and your product ID, it looks something like 512k359#UUG and should be also on the underside of your system.

The HP cloud recovery tool you can download from Microsoft Store (and you have to run it as administrator).

There are no HP Windows 11 drivers for your computer so can I ask what version of Windows you were running before this issue happened.

Looking at your attached pic and the above, to be able to boot from the USB device you will need to disable secure boot and have it set to Legacy.

What on earth is a goober
