    Wireless headphones and controller disconnecting

    For a good few months now I’ve had an issue where my controller and headphones will disconnect, keyboard, mouse or any non audio compatible peripherals work fine, it stays disconnected for ~1 minute and sometimes after that doesn’t let me re connect my headphones, forcing me to restart. I’ve tried countless troubleshooting methods and back dating drivers, does anyone have any help on this as I’m at a loss and my only thought now is to factory reset and hope.

    Speccy doesn’t show the Power Supply Unit so, if a Desktop PC, list the make/model of the PSU.

            No clue why it’s the education edition, I used one of my dads keys from where he used to work. Freed up space and updated; I justs never use windows auto update as I want to make sure it doesn’t mess any stuff up before updating. What do the SMART values mean? Thanks

              Looks like you have used a Product Key that, while a valid key, is being used on a PC it isn’t suppose to be on. So that’s a whole other issue.

              How much free space do you have now?
              Where was all the space being used?
              Have you noticed any connection issues still with the headphones?

              The days of Windows Updates causing more harm than help are long gone. Yes, every once in a while you hear about such things, but for example we have over 65 PC’s at work that I keep updated regularly, and (touch wood) I had not had a negative outcome for so many years that I couldn’t even recount the last one. Probably back in the Vista days.

              The security patches the Updates provide, and the fact you are using the in-built Defender security program, make getting them automatically mandatory!

              As to the SMART values, in a nut shell, they are an indication the drive could be faulty, or at least, unreliable.
              How old?
              Personally, I’d be using the figures as a reminder that the drive should be replaced.
              In fairness, SMART values can be misleading as they are not standardised across makes and models, and are not enforced. Completely at the company’s discretion. Plus, it isn’t so much what the figures are, but how often they are changing, which is the real indicator.
              But it’s all we have and the fact the values are even present should be actioned on.

              If you still get disconnects, I would unplug this B:\ drive and run the rig for a few days to see how things change.

                ~50GB on my C drive now, just some games/documents that ccould be moved/deleted. Has happened twice since that though, a bit less than before. My hard drive is the one I had in my old PC, so at least 8 years old, should definately be replaced then. Will give either unplugging it or getting a new one a go and see how it turns out.

                  Have you noticed any cause and effect with the disconnects?
                  Like, a certain game, a certain time period after PC starts, something like that.

                  Something else to try, change you Power Plan to High Performance. That setting turns off any sort of USB disabling which may be causing your headphones to disconnect.
                  Also to double check, go into Device Manager, expand the Universal Serial Bus controller section, right click each entry, select Properties, if there is a Power Management tab go there and make sure Allow computer to turn off this device is not ticked.

                    Any game really and after PC startup whenever its not been on for a while, no specific time of the day though, at least that I’ve noticed. Done all of that as I did have some of the USB devices allowed to disable the device.

                          Sorry for late response, busy with work. Still happening, alot less though, maybe once every few hours. Going to order a new hard drive today
