I recently picked up my Lenovo IdeaPad 1i (Windows 11) from Amazon. I was trying an update when all of the sudden my mouse-pointer had disappeared. At the time, I had no clue that it was just uninstalling the old driver and replacing it with a newly updated one. I thought it was some kind of lag so I shut down my computer for the night.
When I opened my laptop the next day, I was shocked to find that my mouse-pointer still was not there, which confused me. After checking a few tutorials, I was directed to the Device Manager to update the “Mice and other pointing devices” driver (by using tab and alt keys). That’s when I found that it was completely missing along with a few others. After a few tutorials and a long time trying to restore them, I found nothing. I tried using Driver Boosters or the Lenovo support website to reinstall the drivers with no luck, as the Tab and Alt keys wouldn’t allow me to access them.
I watched one final tutorial displaying multiple methods to fix it, each of which I had tried. It then said if all else failed to completely reset the whole PC. When I tried it and opened the Windows 11 start screen, I did not see my cursor. When I got to a certain step, I couldn’t go forward and backward with the Tab keys. I am not sure if I can restore it, and am not sure what to do. I’m considering asking for a full refund and getting the same laptop again. (because it wasn’t the Lenovo laptop itself, it was Microsoft fault, so I think I will get the same one)
Does anyone know what to do? Should I just return it with a new mindset not to do it again? I’ve been wanting my own laptop for a while (not a fan of using the family laptop) and really hate the fact that it just broke all of the sudden. I hope someone out there can help me. Thanks!
