      or next drive fail I lose whatever movies I have then. Size doesn;t matter… loss is loss

        That is why people backup.
        If you had a backup, you would just have had to replace 2TB drive and then restore the movies from the backup.
        No loss of anything.
        Anyway, that is just my opinion and my opinion only.

          if you don’t care about losing data, you don’t need to backup.
          in this case, if all those movies were simply downloaded from somewhere (pirate site, DVD, online streaming) then you just do that all over again.

          but if they included family videos of the kiddies, and generally precious moments that you can’t get back - then backup, backup, backup.
