Move desktop icons to taskbar

I have the Google and Ebay icons on my desktop, the shortcuts. I would prefer them down on the taskbar. I tried to drag and drop them, and copy / paste them, does not work. Any suggestions, please ? Mike

Right click on the Icon and select Pin to Taskbar

Hi Rusty, did not work. In the example, when he opened up an app. it appeared on the taskbar. Then he just clicked on the app, and chose to pin it to the taskbar. When I open up Ebay or Google, they do NOT appear on the taskbar. It looks like they are overlayed on the Explorer icon on the taskbar. no option to pin it to the taskbar.

Update. It must have something to do with Ebay and Google. Because when I open up another app. like Macrium Reflect, it does appear on the taskbar, and I do have the option to pin it there.

If they’re links to websites then they’ll not appear on the taskbar when opened.

Hi Bastet, thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure I had those two shortcuts for Ebay and Google down on the taskbar for Windows 10. Something else I do not like about Windows 11.

Hi Mike, yes as Win 10 had the ability to drag & drop icons to the taskbar but currently Win 11 doesn’t have this. It is supposedly arriving in a future update though.

Btw which build are you running? If not 22H2 then it seems this may have the feature. If you are then the feature is still limited to files & not web link Icons.

I checked in System. I have Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621
