    Difficulties installing Windows XP

    Hello!

I’ve been having some troubles installing windows XP on a Dell Optiplex 330.
I’ve already succeeded in installing WinXP on an Optiplex 960, however this model isn’t built for WinXP so multiple drivers couldn’t be installed properly. Most importantly audio.

The 330 is built for WinXP, however it has had Windows 7 on it previously, and XP before that.
Upon booting from the installation disc it reads some data from it, followed up by a blue-screen error.

Following the standard “an error has occurred” blurb the technical information on the blue screen reads:

    *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I would be delighted if anyone has any advice on the subject as this project has been dragging for quite a while. Thank you.

    Hi Racso
    Welcome to PCHF
first step is to check the bios settings for the drive set ATA/IDE Mode to Native.

you could always run windows 7 and add xp mode as a very good work around if needed

what is the back story with the 330?
does it have the original drive? if so, it’s over 10 years old.
why are you loading XP back on it after it had Win7?

0x0000007B usually means a corrupted boot medium.
