Vista Sidebar for XP problem in 64-bit XP

    Hi!

I want to use as secondary OS Windows XP 64-bit.
I have it installed on VirtualBox and tried to use Vista Sidebar.
I found two solutions - one is targetted for x86 systems only and 2nd reports error at install.

Beginning installation is simple - by INF file.
I was reading config in INF file but found nothing problem indicating or I’m too dumb.
When I confirm install, it reports this error:
INF Install failure. Reason: Could not retrieve the system message. You may run out of the system resource.
and for exit is only button OK.

Can anybody explain it me? My English is poor.

    Please clarify:
What are you installing by INF? I assume Vista Sidebar. WHy are you installing via INF instead of the installer?

I’m installing by INF Vista Sidebar - by INF 'cause it has no installer and it’s only one way.

I found an installer and prerequisite hack here:
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SOFTWARE
Windows Vista Sidebar for Windows XP [Download and how to] | Digiex

As I was digging around through all of this, I re-discovered this app (I remember this app but I never used it but I do not see any red flags):
I DO RECOMMEND EXTREME CAUTION WHEN VISITING THE SITES THAT HOST THIS ARCHAIC SOFTWARE

Ok, the first installer works, but only in x86 system, x64 system reports “only for 32-bit systems” - tested on XP64
2nd I tested, works, but there is not possible to add classic gadgets - it has own extension and if I try to change extension only reports of course error importing.
To be sure tested. I need not simple gadgets, when I decided to use gadgets I had real reason - not only watch weather on desktop…
So, I have not yet solution - can we talk about first which has problem?

In attachment is sidebar.inf with changed extension.

I found multiple references to the following advice -
Install the .NET libraries from MS to enable Vista Sidebar in WinXP 64.
General Info: Windows XP 64-bit is really/sorta/kinda just a repackaged version of Windows Server 2003. Anytime you cannot find something for XP64, use the Server 2003 version.

            • [/li][li]Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 requires Service Pack 6a.[/li][/ul]

Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows that you are running. To find recent security updates, visit Windows Update.

[li]You must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework. Install Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1.[/li][/ul]

You might need this one also. Test with just the first package. If fail, add .NET 2.0 for 64-bit XP

I solved this. But it has solution only for 32-bit XP.
Written above - package for XP32 works with this problem:
                • Gadget Extractor (used for adding gadgets to standard package) works not - I downloaded it from 3 sources
No problem - gadgets can be added manually by this way:
open folder Program Files\Windows Sidebard\Shared Gadgets
then import gadgets from other Windows, no matter of version, only with installed any gadgets
in case of Windows 10 go to folder Users{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
                  then copy wanted gadget
it has only one limit - gadgets with Aero glass and transparent graphics will work only maybe - it is not possible to say that all
Now can be thread marked as solved.
