    messed up!

Hi, I forgot my user password but then remembered I used the fingerprint scanner, which then let me in. In my wisdom ha ha, I created another admin user with password, but lost my vb files. I now cannot get the original accont to boot and also cannot delete my new account. I am in a vacious circle
    Can anyone advise ?

    Thanks

With the rule and terms that you agreed to we can in no way assist in bypassing, figuring out and or anything as such with passwords.

    13. We will not assist with recovery of or figuring out of system passwords, PINs, or 2FA codes for any reason.

What do you mean by lost?

The new account can only be removed form another Admin account.

Can you see the original account when the login screen comes up?
What happens when you attempt to log in using the original account?
If you log into the new account can up use the Switch User in the shut down menu to access it?

Hi, Ok thanks for the heads up on the agreement.
Ok this is a compaq nc6400 laptop which has a credential manager with fingerprint reader. I cannot log out from my newly created user and cannot use the fingerprint reader either. So, I have two accounts and cannot remove the latest account, which would bring up the original user and allow me to use the fingerprint reader. Its got me stumped as I have not used this old laptop for several years. I have the vb6 software running, but dont have my access to my applications. I searched the hd and they are not available

I was wondering if I could get access via the dos prompt, or remove the new user I created, this would force the initial user to appear at login.

When welcome screen comes up do you see both accounts?

What happens when you select the original account?

If you are in the new account can you open Windows Explorer?
          Then the C drive
          Then open Users
          Are both listed there?
Look in the original user (it may tell you that you do not have permissions click Continue)
          Are the files there?

          What is listed?

What happens when you select Switch User?

I caanot switch user from the start up screen as there is nothing to select. The laptop boots up as a new user, As a new admin user, I have many of the apps I had before incl the vb6 app which opens and runs, but my vb apps I created are nowhere to be found. There are also some other apps that I had on my original desktop which are also missing. I can only see the users in control panel/user accounts and it contains my new account and a guest account which is off.

I noticed that there was a warning tab on the above page which said windows was blocking the switching of users for safety, is this what needs to be allowed ?

I switched it on and I can now access all my files. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I probably saw it, but it never registered until now. So, I can access all my missing folder and apps as well.
Thanks for the help and I must back this up ASAP.

Can I just copy the contents of the previous desktop onto my new desktop without losing anything ?

When you get around to backing the files up suggest you do two on an external storage device.
