    external hdd

    Hi Guys,
I’ve got several unused hdds that I want to use for external storage but I’ve connected them via al least 3 different USB docks and they just don’t show up. Also had a similar problem with micro cards and varous reader adaptors. I’m asked to format the card but when I try to do so there is no card recognised. Win7 ULT. Help please.

    thanks

    Hello

    And quote…
Sometimes, a very simple trick can fix external hard disk not detected problem. Follow the below steps to apply this trick.
    1. Shut Down your computer
    2. Disconnect the power cable from your computer and wait for a few minutes
    3. Reconnect the power cable and Start your computer.
    4. Disconnect the USB devices from your computer
    5. Restart your computer
    6. Reconnect USB devices to your computer

Because sometimes old drivers can prevent the drive to connect to the PC and shows hard disk not detected error. To check driver status follow the below steps.
    1. Press Windows + R key together and then, type devmgmt.msc in the run dialogue box and click on OK.
    2. Expand disk drivers and right-click on the connected external USB drive.
    3. Click on properties and select the Driver tab.
    4. Click on Update Driver Software and follow the further instruction to update driver.

This may be the one you want to try first..
