Trouble launching many programs.

Hi, since I did windows update I’m unable to launch most programs. Chrome is one of the fews that work without problem.
For example after I try launching something I’ll get a message that tell me the program has stopped working and details of one of those crashes looks like this. The second example is the details after I try opening the system tab in control panel.

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

I’m not sure what I can post that could help but I’ll gladly do it. Also I just noticed some of those information in the details seems to repeat between both crashes.

Welcome to PCHF Aekaex,

A permissions problem or a lack of free storage space can cause such issues.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

It is as was suggested due to a lack of free storage space and I`m afraid that because you missed updating Windows for so long you now have a real issue to deal with, see my canned explanation and suggested remedial step/s below.

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.

Uninstall as many unused programs, games, videos and music files as you can and get yourself another means of backing up to, post back when you have between 20 and 25% free storage on the C: drive/partition and we can go from there.

As an asides, Windows 7 is nearing its end of life and extended support will cease on January 14, 2020 so you really should be upgrading to Windows 10 before then.

Alright I delete as much as I could on both disk with 25.7 gig available on C and 321 on D. I installed my game or stored my video on D so it’s much harder to clear C with just windows 7 on it. Here’s a new url if that matter. http://speccy.piriform.com/results/x...3GRsW8ErEMqJsR

Did you read and understand all of what was post in my reply #4?

Because you have missed so many Windows 7 updates over a long period of time as soon as you you start updating Windows it will quickly start filling up the space that you have freed up and you will be back at square one with being unable to open programs or install updates.

On any new build that I do now I will always suggest that a minimum of a 256GB SSD be used just for Windows and most often used programs or games, you would get by for now with your present SSD but only if you clean install Windows 10 on it, if you have your Windows 7 product key we can help you do this for free if you do it before January 2020.

Did you happen to notice that your Seagate HDD has got a high temperature warning, not a good sign

Temperature: 51 °C
Temperature Range: Warning (50 °C to 55 °C)

Tip
If using a computer and not a mobile phone, please avoid adding multiple posts while waiting for us to reply to your last, edit your last post to include anything that you wish to add, this will ensure nothing gets overlooked which can sometimes happen if a thread has more than one page, it avoids filling up folks inbox and last but not least it amounts to bumping your thread which puts folk to the bottom of any reply list.
