I’ve got a hp pavilion media center m8400f that was working fine until 2 days ago. When I went to turn it on yesterday it would start and turn off right away and the fan sounded really loud but I fixed it by unplugging and repluggin in the hard drives then it started up fine and worked all day. This morning I went to turn it on and only the green light on the front is lighting up and the power button isn’t, it’s on and the fan sounds really loud again and I’m not getting any picture. Can someone please help??

Hello Zippypop110,
Let’s start with the basics.
Are you confident with working inside of a computer, this includes being aware of the safety steps that you should always take before opening up a computer.
Does the computer power up without you even pressing the power on button on the computer case.

The power button is also used for providing hardware error codes and the button would normally flash red, the fact that the button is not flashing at all could mean that the button itself is faulty and possibly causing a short circuit.
The HP pavilion media center m8400f is listed as having both onboard graphics and an add on video card, checking the power on button, removing any add on video card and using the onboard graphics solution and swapping in a known good power supply are three things that need to be checked, this obviously means that the computer case needs to be opened up which we cannot help you with until you let us know that you are safe to do so.Comment
