AMD Windows Update always fails

    Advanced Micro Devices Inc. - SecurityDevices - 6/2/2017 12:00:00 AM - 4.4.0.0

I installed Win 7 on my new AMD Ryzen PC two weeks ago. From the start,it was showing me that some Windows Update cant be installed becose they are not compatibile.I think it was some AMD stuff that wasnt compatibile with Win 7.

Then Evan Omo suggested I install “wufuc”,its app from Github that stops Windows from blocking updates if I have new CPU.That app worked and I download massive amounts of updates. One thing I noticed is,some updates frequently failed to install.I just kept trying and trying again, search for updates, install, restart PC and repeat. At the end it installed everything except one update that always fails to install, its the AMD one I posted at the start of this thread.

What can I do to install it? What does it even do? I honestly have no idea what any of these updates do,I just install them becose I believe its good thing to do.Evan Omo wrote that the Windows blocks updates if I have new cpu like Ryzen, again,I have no idea why its like that.I am not sure if this is Windows problem,or that “wufuc” app problem, please help.

Hi fadkda. Did you install all the drivers for your hardware from AMD’s website including the chipset drivers and the video drivers if you have an AMD video card? If you installed the AMD chipset driver’s from AMD’s website then hide any drivers that are suggested by Windows Update as they won’t be compatible and you have already installed the latest drivers anyway.

Does Device Manager show any devices with a yellow exclamation mark next to them?

Your Device Manager window should look like this:

Download and install the AMD chipset drivers from here, AMD Chipset Drivers.

            “18.10 driver has not been installed.Error 1603”

I believe you found the right thing,I never installed that, but it shows this error.

I accidentally installed Win 10… I wanted to install it on the second half of my split partitioned SSD but once I clicked on install,it just went all the way without asking where I want to install it.That means this problem is over,I wont re-install Win 7 again.I am thankful for your help Evan Omo,I sure learned something new about that AMD driver download.
