Transfer Application ODBC from Windows Vista to Windows 7

    Hello,

I had a logistics application privately constructed for me several years ago. The application was designed for Windows Vista server pack 3, 32-bit. In addition, the programmer used MySQL ODBC connector and Wamp Server 2 for this application.

Is there a way for me to transfer this application to a Windows 7, 64-bit system?

From the information I gathered, it seems the data source to the ODBC is incorrect because of the 64-bit system. I receive an error code when I attempt to log into the program.

All input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
PS: The original programmer unfortunately died, thus the source code is lost and a new application would cost several thousand dollars.

      Thank you.

More help the better, but seems not much input from this forum.

I’m sorry you feel there’s not much to offer here.

We have many experts here, and I just saw your thread when I woke up this morning.

In parity to what you’re being given, I would clone the drive, or run a VM. You won’t be able to run the program in Windows 10, so Windows 7 is the last option for your application. To clarify, yes it’ll run in Windows 7 64-bit.

Ok, thanks. I hope it will work for windows 7. I keep getting the same error code. I will try the compatibility mode again. I previously modified the compatibility for all the .exe files for the application, wamp server, and mysql connector.

I receive the following error code when I attempt to log into the application: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Did you drop the driver for the program into the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder?

Uhhhh no I didn’t. I put all the .exe in the same folders (c: and programs) as the vista so it had the same pathway.

So the application contains two folders: (from what I found)
1 folder is in the C: drive. It has a launch file, which is also shortcut to the desktop. That connected to an execution file, which I assume is the primary file for the application.
2 folder is in the programs folder of the C: drive- contains several execution drives for smaller tasks within the program and a bin file and .dll files.

The C drive also contains a mysql file, which contains the mysql connector and wamp folder, which is wamp server 2. When I attempt to log on, the application works, but the user and pass credentials are reset. So I am assuming that the application is having some form of difficulty of connecting to the wamp server 2 database.

Previous I found a wamp server 2 install on the archive, installed that with the same version of ODBC sqlconnecter. I installed both. Then I copied the files of the wamp in the vista system (original) and pasted it in. Ran wamp, but didn’t work.

Should I try updating wamp and the sql and then repaste the previous vista files again?

I will take another look in the drivers folder within the week. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the system atm. I am on a business trip.

                    Hi,

Unfortunately, it still did not work. I decided I will just use the same software and gradually begin utilizing Microsoft applications. However, I want to thank you guys for the assistance!
