Error Message Comes Up

I’ve started to get this error message about once a day. It started last week and I don’t know what it is or why it’s coming. I didn’t see any program running that was doing a download. Does anyone have an idea what this means and how to stop it?

Is the computer a Dell? I ask because the title of the program says SupportAssist. Apparently Dell has something like that.

If it is not a Dell, scan for malware. Try malwarebytes
Download Malwarebytes - MajorGeeks

Hi Wendy.

Lets see what is starting up with your machine.

Please download Autoruns. After you download the zipped folder on your desktop, right click the zipped folder and click Extract All. After the folder has been extracted open the regular folder. Run the autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When you open the program, click the Logon Tab and then post a screenshot of all the startup entries on the Logon Tab in your next reply.

Yes it is a Dell machine.

I’ll try to run autoruns tonight.

then I would go to Control Panel, Programs & Features and uninstall SupportAssistant.

My friend came over and in conversation I happened to mention I was having this issue. He got onto to my machine and in ten minutes he said the problem was solved. He said he removed a program and service. I saw your post today Bruce so that must be what he did. Thank you and everyone else for your help. Sorry I’m not more knowledgeable about these things.
