    question

I have an HP desktop x64 bit OS type with processor Intel (r) Pentium (r) 4 CPU 3.00ghz 3.00ghz. 1Gb ram and 80gb hard-disk. After installing windows 7 on it, my sound wouldn’t come. On the vga side, this how it appears
Total available grachics card : 7872 kb
    Dedicated video memory : n/a
    System video memory : n/
    Shared system memory : n/a

Sake of this, I can’t install some of my softwares. I can’t even play the games I used to play. I’ve installed drivers but I’m still facing this problem.
    Pls what should I do?

    Hello

What HP model is your pc? Please post the model number. You are at the minimum requirements for windows 7 with your P4.

Sorry to hear that, we can assist you with that. In addition to what Vger has requested, could I get you to do the following -

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

      Flush DNS
      Report IE Proxy Settings
      Reset IE Proxy Settings
      Report FF Proxy Settings
      Reset FF Proxy Settings
      List content of Hosts
      List IP Configuration
      List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
      List Installed Programs
      List Devices
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Please post the log in your next reply .

            Hello nanak,

If I may chime in while Twitch is offline

            Couple of observations from looking at your MTB log;

Your computer shipped with either Windows 2000 or XP not Windows 7 for which there are no Windows 7 drivers available,

You have installed a 64-bit version of Windows 7 that requires at least 2GB of RAM whereas your computer only has 1GB, this means that you can only install the 32-bit version, see Windows system requirements here

Can I ask from where your Windows 7 ultimate was obtained.

The C: partition where you have installed Windows is too small and the HDD itself borderline on not having enough storage space for Windows.

              Thanks phillpower2.
So I can either install windows xp or get at least 2gb ram.
I installed the windows from a USB drive which a friend gave to me.

Only chiming in to let you know about snappy driver installer. This program should be able to find the drivers you need. But do not ignore what Phillpower is telling you. He is certainly one of the most competent techs that volunteers his time here.

Looking for drivers? Snappy Driver Installer is a free driver updater with a huge driver collection for offline use.

And to be honest with you, your machine can not handle windows 7 I only suggested the driver program if you have no other options
As Phil suggested you need at least 2 gigs of ram to run windows 7 you would need 4 for it to run smoothly. You will only have issues from this point on. Best you upgrade your hardware or move back to xp

People do not just give away Windows 7 with an accompanying legitimate product key** or any other OS for that matter so there is a high chance that your OS is/was not legit and could get you into trouble Mal has suggested the best course of action with upgrade or install a legit version of XP (y)

** Please note that it is possible for a friend to give you a legitimate Microsoft OS disk or ISO to install on a computer and this would be totally legal, using a cracked version or illegally obtained product key or a single use one that has already been activated on another computer ain`t going to fly with Microsoft though.
