    Computer randomly crashes

My computer has been crashing randomly and sometime when I play starcraft 2 the screen goes black and freezes but I can still force close the game and get back into windows. I thought I had some bugs because I hadn’t formatted my drives for a while so I did a fresh install of Windows 7 but it didn’t help. Most of my hardware is pretty new like my video card, cpu, power supply and mobo but I think my ram might be a bit old.

Does anyone know what I can do to find out the main issue and fix this?

    Hi there Shahzad

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

    Flush DNS
    Report IE Proxy Settings
    Reset IE Proxy Settings
    Report FF Proxy Settings
    Reset FF Proxy Settings
    List content of Hosts
    List IP Configuration
    List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
    List Installed Programs
    List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Please post the log in your next reply

Do you have more information about your computer, such as make, model, RAM, HD, GPU, etc?

I have two intel SS drives, Nvidia 1060, i7 4790k, gigabyte mobo and I think 8 gigs of Kingston ram.

I see one issue to all this: your nvidia driver.

Please download the Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App - save to Documents folder.

Run the app - Double-click on the downloaded EXE file
Output = new folder created in Documents + a zipped version – SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder + SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip.[/list]

Please note that the app averages ~3 minutes to run on most systems; other systems - it my take as long as 10-15 minutes to run. Please be patient.

Also note: The app auto-zips the SysnativeFileCollectionApp output folder. It is located in your Documents folder.
Windows Explorer should open and highlight the zipped folder

Please attach the SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip to your post and await further instructions

Also Turn Shadercache off in Nvidia Control Panel.

The causes of the crashes are caused by ShaderCache being enabled. Turning it off should resolve those crashes

Ok thanks, I’m going to try that out. Is there any reason that shadercache would cause my computer to crash but not other people’s?

This is the universe of computers as we know it What doesn’t work for you works for others, and what works for you doesn’t work for others. It’s always been this way and always will be

Are your drivers up to-date? You got 2 BSODs with a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error, which refers to either a driver-related issue or hardware-related issue. The logs you provided gave a
                      Shader Program Header 11 error
                      Shader Program Header 18 Error

which is why I had you disable ShaderCache.

Also does it only occur with one game or is it multiple games? Are you getting an error of:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and was recovered.

                      ?

                      I also see:
Error: (08/29/2017 08:48:50 PM) (Source: Application Hang) (User: )
Description: The program SC2_x64.exe version 3.17.0.56787 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

which indicates SC2 itself is causing problems.

I rarely play other games but when I do I don’t think they’ve caused my computer to crash. I was thinking it was a problem with SC2 as well but my computer also crashes randomly at other times.
Could it be a problem with my video card? It’s pretty new so I didn’t think it would be an issue. I also updated to the latest drivers from Nvidia when I formatted a few days ago.

If it’s only happening with SC2, it might be a problem with just SC2. I assume SC2 is fully patched and up-to-date correct?

Are you getting the Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and was recovered error?

The game is fully up to date and it seems like I’m the only one having this problem. also, my computer is crashing during normal web browsing too.

I can’t remember exactly what the error message was but I don’t think it mentioned the display driver.
