    Reinstall I think

I lent my computer to a friend, now when I turn it on I get "repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour"after 4 hours I shut her down.thinking it would do nothing. So I thought I would just factory reset it but every time I push f10 or any of theF buttons,I just get a high pitch sound.
Help is there anything I can do?
Forgot to mention it’s aAcer aspire will 7

    Welcome to the forum Chark

Are you holding the F10 Down or tapping it?

Try tapping F8 and lets see if we can get into safe mode.

        What specifically is listed there?

Is there one that is called Recovery?

Have you created or do you have you recovery software?

Found on the Acer site Using Recovery Management outside of Windows
Use the following steps to start the system recovery:

                [ol]
[li]Restart the computer.[/li][li]When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the left Alt, and the F10 keys.[/li][li]If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.[/li][li]After the Acer eRecovery Management application has loaded, select your restore type.[/li][li]Read the notice, and then click Next when you are ready.[/li][li]Click Next to begin the restore process. The restore can take anywhere from 10 minutes up to an hour.[/li][li]Once the restore is complete your computer will load Windows and start installing your drivers and software. Your computer may reboot several times during this process. After everything is complete your computer will be like it was when you first purchased it.[/li][/ol]
Would also be helpful if you could post if you knew what it was that your friend may have done to the system.

                      Was there an error?
What did it do an do or did not do?
The more specific you can be will be helpful.

What is the system that you are posting form?
Is it a windows 7 like the Acer?
If so then let make a Create a Windows 7 Rescue Disc and see if we can run Check Disk on the drive to make sure it is ok.

Even if you have a friend that can make the disk.

If you feel comfortable doing so you may also try reseating the Hard Disk Drive.
