Ok hold on, this will take a bit to explain but Id appreciate any advice…
I changed out my sons power supply in his pc. I removed a 600w evga and installed a 750w evga.
I changed it out because once in a while when it would boot windows it would just lose power, plus the power supply was about 4 years old. So I switched it out(ive done this a hundred times before with no problems).
I went to boot windows 10 and it took a little longer then normal but then started up. I then noticed that whenever I would start up a program or a game or would download something, windows would get real slow, and sometimes it would even freeze up to where the task manager wouldnt even come up.
So this is all ive tried to fix the issues:
I went into bio and reset all settings to default settings for the motherboard.
I formatted the HD and did a reinstall of windows 7. It got through the install with no problems. Once in a while during updates it would freeze up. And then when I tried to install programs and run them, the same issue. Slowed down or froze up all together.
I have another HD, so I formatted it and installed Windows on it, same problem.
I put the old power supply back in, same problem. Then I did a reinstall of windows with that power supply, same problem.
I have ran every disk scan, repair program available to windows with no help. I have defragged and ran registry health checks with no results.
Some specs(mind you, all of this was working just fine before the first switch of the power supply.)
Sorry, I should have added that the temps have been good the entire time.
FX-8300 processor
Asus M5a78L mother board
PNY 1060 graphics card(but for all the windows reinstalls, we just ran graphics off the mobo)
EVGA 750 watt power supply
Any advice would be great! Thanks!
