I know you guys didn’t want to hear from me again unless it was a good one BUT
Have done everything you suggested on both adapters… and to no avail..It does seem to make them work better and now stay connected when the green check is on…but..nothing in the earphones or the mouse still doesn’t work..It does give an error mgs..and when I looked them up it is a driver problem..
Question..these are cheap adapters (4-5$nrange) Do have any suggestions on an adapter I can get from Microsoft or Dell that might work ? I can always return them..Just an idea..
    Thanks,
    hefs

Sorry, I don’t install Bluetooth if it is not internal to the computer. So I’d have no idea what works well and what doesn’t. I have 1 computer out of 8 in the house and 2 tablets with bluetooth. I bought 2 bluetooth keyboards to use with the tablets.

One day, I paired one of the keyboards with the Windows 7 laptop just to see how it would go. It was easy to do.

My advice, forget trying to get Bluetooth working on a 10 year old computer that originally came with XP or Vista and was upgraded to another version of Windows.

Thanks…I agree 100%.. I guess I knew that all along but was hoping for the best as your fine group has always come through in the past..
At 75 I can live with out it and I am sure not going to buy a new one if this one gives up to the blue screen I have a smart phone and Kindle HD that can do anything I need from a computer…
Again , thanks for your help and patience …keep up the good work..

They do make USB bluetooth adapters that connect via USB and work from that.

          Amazon.com

It’s quite possible your device is faulty. Bluetooth adapters do fail, and it can cause the issues you’re experiencing. A new one is cheap and is plug and play, meaning you simply plug it into a USB port, install the latest drivers for it, and then enable it

If you don’t want to buy a new one, then it’s probably best to just leave it Bluetooth-less.
