Thanks for the info..I bought the computer a couple of years ago from Best Buy..knew it was a refurbished computer,( but not that old)…it had 4 g am and Win 7 Pro loaded..I just never played with blue tooth before but decided to give it a try..whenj it wouldn’t work started reading…saw that Win 7 had problems with blue tooth… tried the help forms from Microsoft..nothing worked…so ended up here where I have always been successful…but this time I am about at wits end on the problem..as I said earlier in a post.. I am 75 yrs old so not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to this stuff.. ..
I was told that all I needed was to use a blue tooth adapter ..the device manager shows all the right things checked and every thing will pair..just not connect..
again thank you and the others for the help..

I’ll be 70 myself in a few months.
You posted you are using a Broadcom adapter but when I search for a model BCA20702AO, the only hit i get is this post. Are you sure that is the model?

I’ll search to see what drivers, if any are offered.

                          I found a BCM20702 and found this
                          Bluetooth Software

Windows drivers for Broadcom Bluetooth devices are no longer posted here. They should be available through Microsoft’s Windows Update service.

                          Is this what you have?
                          Amazon.com

I’m reading the 1 star reviews and people can’t seem to pair anything with it.

there are only 8 reviews. For 50% it works and for the other 50%, it doesn’t work.

I download the manual and I’m reading through.

Before you start, it says to do the following:
Please remove any previous version of Bluetooth software that may exist in your system.
The removal procedure is as follows
Step 1: Click Start/Settings, then select Control Panel
Step 2: In the Control Panel window, double click Add/Remove programs icon
Step 3: Locate the program WIDCOMM or any other Bluetooth Software and remove it

                              Have you done this?

Once that is done you can install the driver either from the CD or from a website.
                              Post which method you prefer.
