MP3 tags aren’t showing for some files in Windows Explorer (Windows 7, 64bit). I’ve read the fix for this is to run “regsvr32 shmedia.dll” in cmd. Problem is I don’t have the shmedia.dll file anywhere. Where do I get it?
MP3 tags not showing in Windows 7, need shmedia.dll

Originally posted by gusHope I can butt in here, but if you are serious about tagging you are much better off using software that is dedicated to it. Two great free portable apps are Tagscanner HERE and Mp3Tag HERE. Of the two Mp3Tag is the easier to use.Comment

Originally posted by MalnutritionCan you explain? Provide a screen shot with the windows snipping tool. Also, you may find that the Everything Search Engine may help? You can search .MP3 or .MP4 from within it and see all of your video audio files listed at once. Another thing, shmedia.dll is not a windows file. When is it that you are getting that error?

As you can see, for most files Windows will display the artist, album, title, etc. But not for some files.
From googling, people with the same problem claim to have fixed it by running “regsvr32 shmedia.dll” in the command prompt. I do not have the shmedia.dll file though, so this didn’t work.
Another fix that people claim worked for them, was to type “sfc /scannow” into the command prompt. I did this and it didn’t help.Comment

I’m weary of dling dll files in fear they contain viruses or are the wrong version. I’m not sure how to tell if a site can be trusted.Comment
