I have a ASUS X55U laptop PC ,originally it had windows 8 running on it( factory installed). I never did like windows 8 and my PC was beginning to get very laggy, so I decided to upgrade to windows 10. The download went fine but when i tried to install it, all I get is a screen saying “checking for updates” with the usual spinning lottery balls and nothing happens. Ive tried rebooting several times , I even let it run overnite ( thats 8 hours) it shouldn’t take that long for an update. And whats stranger is that i can no longer access the bios using F2. I had windows 10 stored on a USB thumb drive, i changed the boot order to point to the usb , rebooted my PC and windows began loading. Everything ran fine up to that point, but when it got to auto update it just keeps running perpetually. Whats happening here ?
ASUS laptop forever stuck in update.

Hi jmarket , thanks for responding.
The ASUS laptop is un-usable, when a turn it on it begins to load windows 10 and prompts me for express or custom settings. Ive tried both and the same thing happens, it just goes into “checking for updates” and never stops. I have to do a hard shut-down ie holding down the power button to start over. Comp is un-responsive to any keyboard input ive tried when starting up.
Heres some of the info i have about the hardware:- ASUS X55U version 410
- Build date sept 3/2012
- Processor : AMD C-60 APU
- installed memory (RAM) : 4.00 GB
- System type : 64 bit operating system, x64-based processor
- Radeon graphics HD 6290
Hope this is sufficient.

Might try reinstalling windows 8, then upgrading it from within win8. This guide will show you how to get windows 8.Comment
