Aomei Backupper cloned drive reboots before getting into Windows

Hi, I have used Aomei Backupper to clone a 2.5” SSD which has Windows 10 on it, to an M.2 SSD, my PC is an HP Prodesk 400 G2 ultra small form factor.

When I remove the 2.5” SSD and try to boot from the M.2 SSD, I get the little turning circle thing at the bottom of the screen, which normally shows when Windows 10 is loading, but then the PC just reboots, and goes through it all again, but never gets into Windows. I presume the Aomei Backupper β€˜Clone’ option should make a perfect clone of the 2.5” SSD.

Is the new SSD set to boot first?

If you return the original drive does the PC then boot? If so then ensure all partitions were copied over.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The new SSD is set to boot first, I completely removed the old SSD just to make sure. I think all partitions were copied over.

I fixed the problem by using Disk Genius Free Edition. I was able to use β€˜Migrate OS’ while still in Windows, and when I put the new cloned disc in, it started up perfectly first time, and I’ve been using it ever since.

So I’m going to ask for a refund for Aomei Backupper, because I’ve spent two DAYS trying to get it to clone properly. So I highly recommend Disk Genius Free Edition.

Great to hear you found a solution. I use Macrium Reflect & never had problems after cloning.
