    System keys in my documents...

    Hi,

I have a load of .reg files in β€˜This PC> Documents’, is it safe to delete these?

    Thanks,

Can you take a screenshot of the folder? We need to find out why they are there and from where they came.

Take a screenshot of the reg files themselves, that’ll show their names and hopefully also their dates.

It looks like you have a program that is backing up your registry files.
So we can see what is running
Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
This will not supply any information that can be used to hack your computer

They are from CCleaner, and quite old. The latest one being from February 2020.

They are made optionally whenever a person cleans the registry with the tool. Considering the age, I’d say it’s safe to delete.

In the future, if you still have ccleaner installed, refrain from cleaning the registry, it can have unintended consequences. Hence the backups. ???

Specifically Ccleaner from the looks of it. When you run the Ccleaner Registry cleaner, the backup appends that cc prefix to the file name.

That cc_date_time format is what CCleaner uses when you backup the registry before it makes changes - are you using CCleaner - alot?
Plus those .reg files are ancient - delete them.

PS: Ah, just read the above posts - we all seem to be in union. (y)

@Ginger-Overlord - so were you running CCleaner a lot?
And have you removed those cc files?
