    Window won't close

I have an HP Windows 10 laptop.

When I start the PC, a window pops up from “MiniTool ShadowMaker”. The window indicates that I have not made any backup, but recommends that I do so. I have two choices: click on the “Back up Now” button, or close the popup window using the “X” at the top right of the Window.

The problem is that clicking on either button does nothing. I can’t close this window. This window is always on top. If I open any other programs or windows, they either don’t function correctly or at all. And once I open any other windows, I can’t close any of them.

Task Manager does not see this open window, so I can’t use it to close the window. I tried to uninstall this program in Safe Mode, but it doesn’t work. Rebooting the PC just repeats this sequence.

As long as this window is open, I can’t use my PC. My goal is to close this window and then uninstall “MiniTool ShadowMaker”

What error did you get in Safe Mode when trying to remove that program?
I assume in Safe Mode, it didn’t pop up when Windows started?

I didn’t get any error message in Safe Mode. It’s just that clicking in the icon to uninstall a program wouldn’t open the program. It only gave me the option to pin it to the task bar, or add to the start menu. But no uninstall option.

Did you go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, and look for the program there?

I tried. If I click on Control Panel and then “Apps”, it won’t open. Just gives me the option to “Pin to Start”. Plus that wayward window is always on top, so it covers every other window, and I can’t move, minimize, or close it.

            Let’s double check your process…

Click the Start button, and literally start typing control - you’ll see under Best Match it’ll have Control Panel, click that.
You should then be taken to Control Panel, in the top right corner, change View by: to small icons.
Now you’ll see Programs and Features, and in that list, hopefully there is Minitool ShadowMaker.
            Click that to uninstall it.

Some things can’t be removed from Safe Mode, if you get an error along those lines, get a little program called SafeMSI from here; https://pchelpforum.net/r/safemsi.223/
Click the History tab to get to the download link.

I would use Revo uninstaller free to remove it under safe mode.
Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily It’ll run the program’s own uninstall then allow you to scan for leftovers.

                Download KillEmAll.
                Unzip to your desktop.
                Double click it to run.
                Follow the prompts.
This will close all non MS programs.
It will also close your browser, but it will close the tool so you can uninstall it.
                Use Geek Uninstaller Force mode.

Once this “MiniTool ShadowMaker” window is open, nothing else functions. I cannot close it, minimize it, or move it.

I cannot use any web browser, they don’t open. Once I open any other file or window, they stay open; I cannot close them, minimize them, or move them.

                  I cannot download anything.

I tried going to C:\Program Files\MiniTool Shadowmaker , which is where the program is installed, and tried deleting it. That doesn’t work, Windows says this folder or file is open in another program; close the folder and try again. The “Try Again” and “Cancel” buttons don’t function.

Can you download KillEmAll onto your phone, plug it into the computer Via USB port.
Transfer it to your PC that way.

                        PLEASE CLOSE! PROBLEM SOLVED!

It had nothing to do with “MiniTool ShadowMaker”. You would never guess what the problem was.

It was the wireless USB mouse. I disconnected it and used the touchpad on the laptop, and everything functions correctly. For some reason, using the wireless USB mouse cause everything to respond in a crazy manner. I even tried a different wireless USB mouse, and got the same crazy behavior.

I will try a wired mouse and see if that works.
