        I haven’t needed to play with .cab files for ages.
        Definitely right clicking and selecting Install was an option under Win7, pretty sure Win10 too, but no, now I’m on Win11, it looks like you need to use the DISM command.

        Get back to us when you can.
        I reckon if you leave it till the next Patch Tuesday update next month, you’ll probably find your Windows updates will work.

          Problem solved: I have ordered a new computer that runs Windows 11. I hope that will put an end to the slow loading of applications, freeze-ups, etc. So mark me resolved.
