    Problem with updates

    I am unable to download and install the " 2024-25 cumulative update for Windows 10 version 22H2 for x64 systems." I get this error code (0x80070017). Any suggestions?

    What have you tried so far?

    Have you tried creating another login account and using that to see if that helps?
    Is there enough free space on the drive?
    If you have a 3rd party security software, try disabling that.

      Other windows updates have downloaded and installed without a problem. Yes, I have plenty of space on my hard drive.

        1) Let’s show the complete PC specs using Speccy by Piriform.
        In Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
        Paste that link into your post.
        Is Speccy safe?

        2) Let’s list your installed programs using MiniToolBox by FarBar.
        In MTB, tick List Installed Programs, click Go then close the program.
        A file MTB.txt is created in the same folder, attach that in your post.

                Do you have the KB number for that update?

                While I see no direct connection with not being able to do that Windows Update, let’s clean up and see what happens.

                From the MTB file;
                [ul]
                [li]go to Control Panel, Programs & Features, and uninstall anything starting with Dell[/li][li]also remove the Compatibility Pack for Office 2007[/li][/ul]
                From Speccy
                [ul]
                [li]uninstall Malwarebytes (it can be re-installed later)[/li][li]check for any newer BIOS version from the Dell website. Use you Service Tag number located on the sticker on the case[/li][/ul]
                Try these from an elevated command prompt;
                [ul]
                [li]chkdsk c: /r[/li][li]sfc /scannow[/li][li]dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth[/li][li]dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase[/li][/ul]
                Run CCleaner (free version) or Glary Disk Cleaner to clean out any crap files from the drive.

                Reboot the PC and all network hardware and try again.

                    Followed all commands. No improvement, but my computer is running slowly now.

                        Running slow how - startup, opening programs like Word for example, or internet speed?
                        The first boot or two after running CCleaner will be slower as it cleans out a lot of system caches that Windows has to rebuild.

                        If that update doesn’t install using Windows Updates, have you tried doing an offline install by downloading that update separately from here; Microsoft Update Catalog

                            Should be able to right click it and select Install.
                            But if not, see other options here; https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...dows-10-a.html

                              When I right click the file, I don’t have a choice to install. I will try one of the other options in the link you sent. Thanks!!
