Constant freeze ups using chrome browser

I leave my computer on all the time. About 2 weeks ago, there was a very brief power outage that booted my computer. Unplugged it, reconnected and started computer. Did a restart because it wasn’t working properly, and that took about an hour to complete. Now it takes me 2-3 minutes to open wsj.com (for example), or the system just freezes completely. If I wait 5-10 minutes, the problem fixes itself, but I am still prone to freezeups (handups?). Any suggestions for diagnosing the cause and fixing it?

Is it just happening to Chrome?
      Have you tried another browser?

Is Chrome up to date, what extensions are installed?

I have been trying for the last 24 hours to diagnose my problem. At one point, I had no internet connection. As I sit here, everything seems to be working as before. Thanks to everyone who read my plea for help.
