CPU/Memory/GPU Performance is Bad

Hi,

Just recently i’ve been having major lag when playing some games, it’s frmo rubber banding to just freezing and crashing. These particular games both had major updates so I thought it was due to the updates and just having a lot more people on the servers than usual. but today I was checking my task manager while trying to play and saw my cpu running at 90% which by ite self isnt bad but say my memory peaking at 70%+ and also my gpu is only running about 30%…is my GPU choking my system? What shoudl I do cus this wasnt an issue until this week. I did a full system restore and it hasnt helped either.

Speccy showing errors on the C:\ drive - Read Error Retry Rate.
other errors as well, but this would be the one I’d be concerned about.
looks like the drive is about 3 years old - under warranty still?

your mobo BIOS is v1202, latest is 2208.
versions since yours have stability fixes and performance improvement to RTX GPU’s.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Drives ar enot under warranty anymore, do I need to replace it? cloning is easy enough.

how do i update my mobo bios?

If you clone a bad storage device you likewise clone any software problems that the original device may have.

We can see other issues in Speccy but for now let’s take a closer look at the suspect drive;

Download and run CrystalDisk info standard edition from here

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start…all programs…accessories…paint…left click in the white area …press CTRL + V…click on file…click on save…save it to your desktop…name it something related to the screen your capturing… BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG …otherwise it may be to big to upload… after typing in any response you have… click Attach file to add the screenshot.

The drive is fine so the Speccy info must have been a blip.

Before we get onto the other points, the screenshot of Task Manager in your OP, it doesn`t show what processes were running that were causing the high readings, what were they.

Here is a SS of task manager sorted by CPU usage, Diablo 4 is taking the most, that would be obvious, but my GPU still running low.

Quick question, or rather two, what is the brand and model name or number of the PSU and how old is it.

It is a “High Power” 600w Model: HP1-J600GD-F12S, itsa about 4 years old

Looks like it may have been ok when new but not finding any warranty information for it which is bad

Windows is shown to be a recent install and I`m afraid it was done badly, see my canned explanation below;
Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

Ya, so I did a restore yesterday to see if that would fix my problem, it reinstalled windows as well, I have no idea how to do what you say I need to do however. But I do have a IT contractor coming into my office on Tuesday, I could get him to help me with that, unless its easier than it sounds?

Try reading again the canned steps in my reply #12, if you are still not sure have your IT contact take a look.

The drivers you need are the two latest chipset, the SATA for your storage devices and the VGA which is for the CPUs video, not the add on GPU which gets installed later, ASUS drivers from here
