    windows media player

Hi guys, I have a win 10 computer and have put a window movie player for win7 on the computer.

when I try to put photos or videos onto the window movie player, its comes up with the windows media player saying unexpected error (see photo)

This means it cannot put pictures or video into the movie player. Yet I can manipulate photos and videos on everything else, except the movie player.

scratching my head on this one. colin.

gโ€™day Colin and welcome to the forum.

I believe Movie Player was superseded by Video Editor a while back.
use the MS Store to install Video Editor and see if that helps.

hi Bruce, Did that, but The video editor is not very good compared to windows movie player which has many functions. Before i dumped my win7 computer (burned out), I had saved window movie player on memory stick and put the player on win10, Is it non playable on win10?, i cannot understand why i cannot put pictures or videos on it without that windows media player error message coming up. is there a way to solve it?

Did you install using the original setup files or did you just copy the folder?
Are you just wanting to edit videos?
If yes try Shotcut = Free and cross platform

I just copied the folder. put a shortcut to desktop (see photo of the folder)
Yes, I do edit videos & photos, add music and voice, then put on youtube.
Sorry but no idea what โ€œshortcut= free and cross platformโ€ means

You need to run program setup files.

Free means you do not have to pay for the program.
Cross platform means you can use it on Windows, Apple and Linux.
Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux

Hi Peter. I found an โ€˜approved downloadโ€™ version of the program, and it now works by using program setup, as you suggested

Anyway. Thanks for all your help, regarding doing setup, rather than just putting the folder in. Can now make my videos. Cheers Colin.
