Slow storage transfer speeds

I’m trying to start some video editing but am super discouraged when it takes two hours to get 100g of footage from a sad card into editing software.

Transferring is only 33mbps

Running windows 10
I5-3470 3.2ghz processor
24g ram
64bit os
Samsung 870 evo 1tb ssd
Nvidia gtx 1650 4g video card.

Built this computer in 2012 and in the past couple months installed the new SSD, power supply and video card everything else is original from 2012 and was built with high end components for its time.

Haven’t used computer for more than the internet the past few years but am now using it more seriously and tried to avoid a whole new computer with adding the new components but still very slow IMO for editing

Strongly considering a new build or buying a pre built laptop or desktop if I can find a solution for under $100 or preferably free. Have been out of the pcm game for a long time way out of touch. Planning to use for video editing for YouTube.

over ten year old build, probably had Win7 originally, then upgrade to Win8, 8,1 then 10.
so maybe 10 years of registry rot and general junk/temp/cache accumulation.

I be starting with a clean slate and going from there, knowing I had a fresh install from the get-go.
using Windows Media Creation Tool, use that to create a bootable Win10 USB stick with the latest build.
then boot from the stick and reload Windows, backing up your data first of course.

Uploading to the site or loading the file to the program for editing.

You mention that the speed is slow yet very little about the system and ISP speeds.
Have you checked them via [COLOR=rgb(243, 121, 52)]speedtest or [COLOR=rgb(243, 121, 52)]speed of me?

Look at the upload speeds.

With the system being as old as it is REALLY suggesting new desktop.
Since it is that old how long before the heavy loading and software demands cause failure.

Plus, the make and model of the PSU which may not be able to produce the power needed.[/COLOR][/COLOR]

just confirming…

your title suggests web speeds, but your post mentions SD cards.
are we talking about web upload and download speeds, or local storage transfers with SD cards, USB sticks, etc?

Storage transfer from sd card (go pro) to a SSD is my speed concerns. Then from ssd to video editing software is also extremely slow. our internet is trash in the country and 12 mbps download 3 mbps upload. I’ll update title if I can sorry about that.

Reinstall Win 10 Fresh Install

Download the win 10 tool run it to recreate the flash drive – Must be minimum 8GB

In the video at 2:35 Where to install Windows. Highlight each partition and delete.

Then install on the unallocated space.

In the video at 2:54 you will notice it restarts the computer.
When you are doing this and you get to that point Remove the usb stick whilst it is restarting.
Also if you want to setup a local account instead of logging in with a Microsoft account
Turn off your wireless network and or remove the network cable.
This point is 3.32 in the video - Choose I don’t have internet.
If you want to log in with a Microsoft account then leave the network as is.

Before doing any install, it is a good idea to go to the support page for your system. Download the drivers you are going to need i.e. chipset, sound, video, wireless, etc. WhilstWin10 has a lot of native drivers, Microsoft drivers are designed for ease of use and are NOT designed for any type of performance. Store these drivers on another usb or you can even just make a folder on your install usb when you are finished making the install usb. Copy the drivers into that folder.

When you are finished with the Windows install, then install your drivers.

How are you transferring from Go Pro to the computer?

After you finish following peter install instruction post the speccy and test the system.
