    PC randomly freezing

    Hello!

Iโ€™ve got an old computer set-up and Iโ€™ve had the problem of it freezing randomly for the past few years, but iโ€™ve tolerated it from how uncommon it was.
It wasnโ€™t until a few days ago that it got so bad that I took it upon myself to exorcise the demon out of my computer.
Ive done everything I could find on Google, from windows system checks and refreshes to no Avail.
Every time I attempt a complete reset, it freezes halfway through and even after 10 hours it will still be frozen so im forced to force shut down the computer.
Of course the OS is corrupted so I plug in a rescue USB and get it up and running again. I finally successfully reset the computer and reinstall windows.

But the freezing problem still persists, although it is better than before

Could this be a hardware issue?
I have spent all of my spare weekend time trying to fix this and would love some help

Alright, Iโ€™ve finally checked out the HDD with some tools that check the SMART as well as going over the Task manager, the Drive is almost dead. =_=
While doing some diagnostics on the Motherboard however, the PC has finally shut down never to boot up again.
So now Iโ€™m not sure if thereโ€™s anything potentially wrong with the motherboard

        Hello

I would start with the HDD being bad to start with.

          Letโ€™s test the motherboard
make a ubuntu bootable usb or dvd
Create a bootable USB stick with Rufus on Windows | Ubuntu NO install needed

Or here is a Youtbe on how to make the usb

Insert the usb or cd/dvd and boot your system. You may have to change bios settings to boot from the usb or cd/dvd (every computer is different) We can help with this.

When the computer boots choose TRY UBUNTU and let the system boot.

Yes I agree that the hdd has always been the problem piece.

And thank you! Iโ€™ll create the USB on my laptop and give it a go on my Desktop and come back

You should be able to run ubuntu from the usb like a normal computer
You will have internet and all.
If it works a day or so on ubuntu we can use Ubuntu to maybe resuce files from the hdd
if you have an external to copy them onto.
But first things first letโ€™s see if all is ok running ubuntu
