    Taskbar search box not responding/opening

After the most recent windows update, whenever I try to click the search bar on the bottom left in Windows 10, nothing happens.
Not even the typing indicator shows up. All that happens is a blue loading icon appears next to my cursor for a few seconds and nothing follows.
Also, in File Explorer, the search in the top right corner of the window doesn’t work either.
I’ve tried restarting File Explorer, Windows Search, attempted using the indexing troubleshooter and even tried uninstalling the recent windows update.
I’m currently rebuilding the index, but I’m not sure how effective that will be when I’m unable to get a typing indicator.
    Nothing seems to work… ???
Can anyone inform me on how to fix this?
    I’d really appreciate it.

Have you tried restarting the computer itself?

Does pressing the Windows Key on your keyboard yield a different result?

It opens the start menu but it doesn’t allow me to search anything, unfortunately.

Yes, personal information is not included in the link.

It’s deleted in 30 days as well if you are really concerned.

                    Have you ran SFC/DISM yet?

                    If not,

Right click on the windows logo in the bottom left of your screen and select Windows Powershell (Admin)

Type in the command sfc /scannow

This will take a while to complete, do not close out of powershell while it is running.

After SFC has ran, copy and paste this command as well:

                    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

                      SFC came back with:

                      β€œVerification 100% complete.”
β€œWindows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations”

                      as for the Dism command:

                      β€œ[==========================100.0%================== ========]”
                      β€œThe restore operation completed successfully.”
                      β€œThe operation completed successfully.”

But the search box still isn’t working. ???

                        Open Control Panel

Select view by small icons in the top right

                        Open Troubleshooting

                        Select System and Security

Select and run through the Search and Indexing diagnostic.

If this does not fix anything immediately, please restart the computer and see if that makes a difference.

Just did as you said and nothing still.
It’s so frustrating & strange how this problem occurred seemingly out of nowhere.

as for Windows Search, forget the method to use the search field an try this method.
click the Start button (either the keyboard button or using the mouse to click Start in the bottom left of screen) and then literal start typing what you want.
Windows automatically starts a search for you.

with everything that has already been tried, next I would reset Windows, keeping files and programs.
                              Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery

and get rid of Driver Easy!
