    My pc is still freezing

I started this thread in response to a thread I opened that is now closed.

The url of that thread is https://pchelpforum.net/t/windows-is...lations.73496/

I thought I fixed the problem, so the thread was closed but it happened again. The computer froze but only after opening a game. It doesnโ€™t appear to be freezing while I am typing or some other task that does not require much graphics.

I spent about 2 ยฝ hours recording audio from a story that I have written, then I left the computer for about 1 ยฝ hours and then my son go on it. He loaded fortnite and that caused it to freeze.

As I mentioned, things that donโ€™t contain much graphics, like typing, surfing the net etc donโ€™t appear to make it freeze as I am able to type this message fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been having this problem, on and off for quite some time.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    letโ€™s get the PC specs.

get Speccy from here; Speccy - Download Builds
in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste (Ctrl+V) that link into a post.
One component Speccy doesnโ€™t cover is the Power Supply Unit, so please also include the make/model of the PSU.

@David Paton - threads that receive no updates from the originator after a few days come up as candidates for closing.

if you still need help, give us some updates otherwise we think the thread is abandoned.

Thanks for your help Bruce, I have not known where to turn for help as I am completely stumped.

        Here are the specs,

Is there a way I can find out the power supply details from within windows or do I need to turn off the computer, open the case and inspect the psu?

It is strange as sometimes it freezes in games but other times it doesnโ€™t. I just turned the computer on, had to leave the computer for several minutes and when I came back, there was a blue screen error on the screen.

any chance you noted down what the Blue Screen of Death error was?
there probably was an error code, something like 0x000003fc and a geeky error text like โ€œboot volume not foundโ€.

some findings from the Speccy report - your CPU is quiet old, and the BIOS is dated 2010, Iโ€™d be checking the motherboard manufactureโ€™s website for an update.
next is your memory, looks like slot 1 & 3 are the same, and at some point you got more memory and while slot 2 & 4 are the same - they are different to the original memory.

so you could remove the RAM from slot 2 & 4 and run the rig and see if the BSoD repeats.
if so, put back slot 2 & 4 and this time remove slots 1 & 3 and if if that helps.
that should determine if itโ€™s mismatched memory or just plain faulty memory.

get back to us with your progress.

The error had a sad face and said your device needs to restart, sorry I didnโ€™t make a note of the error. The same thing has happened recently though and I am sure that the error said memory management.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try them and get back to you.

The BSOD error has only happened once or maybe 2 times, mostly the computer just freezes.

I checked the website and it is the latest version of the bios.
