    Testing Included - Continous Game Crashes : "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION"

    Hello!

    So I built this PC a year or so ago, it runs very well EXCEPT multiple games seem to crash seemingly randomly. Some games will run continuously and wont crash, other games seem to crash at fairly regular intervals (like saving) and some games crash randomly at times varying from 3+ hours to every 30 minuites.

    It never seems to be correspondant to anything particularly demanding happening on screen, my CPU/RAM usage isnt ever maxed out (from when I’ve been paying attention). Sometimes the games give me an error message while they crash which is β€œEXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address:” while other games just crash with no further information.

    All Video Card drivers are up to date.

    The most recent crash’s have been while playing Satisfactory with the following error log:
    "Version: 177909, IsEditor: No, IsPerforceBuild: No, BuildConfiguration: Shipping, Launcher: Steam, NetMode: Listen Server, IsUsingMods: No

    Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x00007ffb260af4d0"

    Speccy PC Specs : http://speccy.piriform.com/results/Y...xepDz7E1GTe1rq

    Power Supply: Corsair CX 600w

    CPU Z Validator : AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3991.91 MHz - CPU-Z VALIDATOR

    I’ve run a few tests using the Firestrike Benchmark from 3DMark and posted all the results in a google drive, while montioring it with HWinfo, the link to this is below

    Included is the last crash report from Satisfactory that I last copied into a notepad.

    I appreciate any help that anyone can provide, and please do let me know if you need any further information.

    Hello PcGoBad,

    I suspect that you have more than one issue going on here so will address the Speccy info first;
    CPU
    AMD Ryzen 5 3600: 68 Β°C
    Matisse 7nm Technology
    RAM
    16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @[COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)] 1796MHz

    That is the wrong RAM for your CPU, AMD state here up to 3200MHz and if you have XMP or DOCP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC fall over.

    Go into the BIOS, disable XMP and then manually set the RAM to run at 3200MHz and the voltage to 1.35V.
    Antivirus
    [COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)]Windows Defender
    Antivirus: Enabled
    Virus Signature Database: Up to date
    [COLOR=rgb(226, 80, 65)]Malwarebytes
    Antivirus: Enabled
    Virus Signature Database: Up to date

    Having more than one AV or Firewall installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

    Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

    If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

    Malwarebytes removal info here

    Once any other AV has been correctly uninstalled, restart the PC, check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

    Corsair advise that their CX range be used for the below + not one of their best PSUs as it had quite a high failure rate, if your PSU is out of warranty you really should consider replacing it.
    CX Series Modular power supply units are an excellent choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise, and the flexibility of modular cabling.

    If yours is the modular version they were better quality than the hard wired version.
    1. Copy any dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump onto the desktop.
    2. Select all of them, right-click on one, and click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.
    3. Upload the zip folder using the Attach button, bottom left of the dialogue input box

      Thanks so much for your response! I will get to that as soon as possible, I am however experiencing a bit of a doubly whammy with problems and currently being plagued by internet issues as I’ve posted about here DNS Address Problems (only one PC in network effected) - Web Browsing/Email and Other Internet Applications

      I’ll look into everything you said and get back to you properly once I can get a stable connection!

          Pardon the interruption

          Open the Admin Command Prompt and type or copy and paste the following command
          ipconfig /all >"%userprofile%\desktop\ipconfig.txt

          Will create a file called ipconfig.txt on your desktop please attach or copy and paste the contents in your next post

                Good morning, no luck on the internet connection- I think I’m going to be forced to do a Windows Fresh install in the hope that that somehow fixes whatever is causing this issue!

                In terms of what Phill Suggested: I turned off XMP for the RAM, I also changed the MHZ and Voltage to what was reccomended and I played about 3 - 4 Hours last night and SO FAR so good! No crashes! Still early doors and It might have been a one off, but maybe that fixed it…

                I deleted the second AntiVirus - I have a feeling it wasnt actually installed there was just files left over in the Registry thats why it showed up(?)

                I will also order a new Power Supply this morning, I transfered that one over from my old PC so its definitley due an upgrade I just wanted to chance it as long as I could, but I think that time has now come!

                I will come back and let you know how I get on once I have a clean PC again, fingers crossed with internet this time.
