    An Old Problem Resurfaced - Please FTLOG someone help

    Iโ€™m getting very frustrated. At this point, I believe itโ€™s an actual hardware issue (CPU or Mobo specifically). But any insight could be helpful

    [COLOR=rgb(250, 197, 28)]Problem - Random freezing then reboot. Anytime. Idling on desktop or working in a program.

    [COLOR=rgb(255, 255, 255)]Important note - Iโ€™ve had this issue for months. After pulling my hair out, I reinstalled fresh Windows and it solved the issue. So I thought it was corrupt Windows files or something related to Windows. The MOMENT I updated my Nvidia drivers recently, not 3 minutes later, I start getting freeze/restarts randomly once again. Possibly coincidence, of course.

    [COLOR=rgb(250, 197, 28)]My Thoughts - I am not a professional. I only know what I hear and read online. I hear Ryzen CPUs have had issues with mobos in the past. Previously, when this first started months ago, it happened immediately after I updated my mobo. I meanโ€ฆwhatโ€™s left to replace? The cpu and mobo right?

    With that being saidโ€ฆhow the hell am I supposed to get a CPU and mobo right now with everything going on? Nothing is in stock or reasonably priced.

      any reason why your Windows is so out of date? perhaps the reason lies there.
      at least, one canโ€™t rule that out until you update.

      your build of 18363.720 is about 44 builds older than the last 18363.1977 release.
      and your 1909 version is 5 releases old, having been surpassed by 2004, 20H2, 21H1 and 21H2.

      Iโ€™d be doing a major update first!

        And plus, thereโ€™s a time limit on editing posts.

          sadly I canโ€™t think of any shortcuts to indentify the possible cause.
          Iโ€™d be looking at memory or GPU drivers for the time being (as it doesnโ€™t involve buying new hardware at this stage)

          even though the RAM is new, only run the rig on one stick, and trying different mobo slots, see if that helps.
          it may identify a particular slot or stick as the culprit.

          next, since it was fine after the OS was freshly reinstalled, I would reinstall Windows (to remove all NVidia stuff) and run the rig just using the mobo GPU and leave off NVidia drivers until you prove the rig runs fine for days without the GTX1060.

              As I mentioned, I tested individual memory sticks, different slots.

              This issue is happening after already reinstalling Windows fresh. Once I had done that, the issue went away. But when I updated my Nvidia drivers, this started happening again.

              But months ago, before I reinstalled Windows, it originally started happening after updating my BIOS.

              I also have no integrated graphics, so I have to use my GPU.

              This originally happened before when I owned a different GPU. Thinking the GPU, or drivers, could be the culprit, I got a different GPU (the one I now have). When I had reinstalled Windows, like I said there were no problems. Thinking the problem was solved, I updated everything. (Windows, Nvidia, software, etc). Then it started happening again.

              Hardware-wise, the only things left I have in my system that I havenโ€™t replaced is my CPU and mobo.

              And the event viewer seems to point out CPU issues?

              This is very frustrating and no one can give a real answer. (which is understandable)

              I just donโ€™t know how Iโ€™m gonna be able to buy an IN-STOCK, reasonably price CPU anytime soonโ€ฆ

                  after you re installed windows did you install the chipset drivers?
                  Ideally they should be the first thing done after windows install

                      1. Oops, since Iโ€™ve recently reinstalled Windows I have not reinstalled updated chipset drivers.

                      Prior to this recent Windows reinstall, I DID have updated chipset drivers. But then I NukenBootโ€™d my HD to start fresh.

                          That link worked, but the download button that page didnโ€™t.

                          I googled the driver vesion and found another Nvidia location to download.

                          Iโ€™ll test it over the next 48 hours and report back on Tuesday evening.
