Hello there!
Yesterday, my Windows machine began doing something really strange. I was multitasking with several programs open like usual: Whatsapp Desktop, Discord, Spotify, Chrome, Photoshop, etc. Suddenly, many programs (all mentioned above) stopped responding (with the exception of Chrome). After successfully terminating them, reopening them was impossible since theyโd all not respond almost immediately after starting.
I tried restarting my PC but the issue persists. While trying to troubleshoot I learned that many other programs crash too: Control Panelโs Device Manager, Nvidia GeForce Experience, the latest Nvidia driver wizard installer, etc. I noticed in my Task Manager that the programs that go through this are actually having the processes duped 3-9 times before getting unresponsive or suspended. A few others work normally: Google Chrome, Minecraft, Steam, etc.
The weirdest thing is that this has actually happened twice before and every single time it seems to start after I use a shortcut starting with โShift + Ctrlโ. The first two times I was doing โShift + Ctrl + Aโ in Discord to collapse all channel categories and this latest time I did โShift + Ctrl + Iโ in Photoshop to change my image size. It sounds strange but all 3 occurrences of this started immediately after that. The last couple of times, the issue went away after unplugging my machine to drain it from energy and restarting it after. This doesnโt seem to work now.
Booting the machine in Windows Safe Mode seems to get rid of the issue, making me think it might not be a hardware problem. Perhaps something in my OS got messed up? Iโd really appreciate not having to do a fresh install of WIndows and instead hopefully locating and fixing the problem.
Please let me know what type of additional information I may be able to provide. Really appreciate any help!
