CD not being recognised by PC

My Audio book cds will not work in D drive. My pc eventually ejects the disc and then tells me to insert a cd. Other cds and dvds work fine in the drive. I am at a loss what to do. It is just these audiobooks. I have tried downloading itunes from microsoft but download error eventually appears. I have tried disabling my Norton protection during downloading of itunes but to no avail. VLC and windows media player play other discs without issue. sometimes the disc just keeps spinning and the PC eventually stops responding forcing me to crash out in order to switch PC off.

Can anyone please tell me what is causing the problem and what I could do to listen to these audio cds? many thanks, kevin

In what format are the audiobooks? They may require a specific audiobook reader app like Audible.
From where did you purchase the audiobooks?
Has the disc been closed to allow playing on any device?
I would recommend downloading iTunes direct from Apple as the MS App Store version can be problematic.
The latest macOS offers the world’s best way to play — and add to — your collection of music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, audiobooks, and more.

ITunes is not my thing but in addition to what has already been suggested.

Are these disks factory made or burned copies, if burned are the disks all the same brand.

Was it a reputable UK seller that you made the purchase from, this in case the disks are region locked.

          Have you tried another computer.

To me that is a bit suspicious. It sounds like the audiobooks have been downloaded from the iBooks app, if so then they’re most likely DRM locked so they cannot be played on any other account other than the one the audiobooks were purchased on. If iTunes doesn’t recognise the audiobooks then this is most likely the answer.
            Audible is Amazon’s audiobook app.

discs are factory made. seller was a private individual on ebay who advised me to use itunes like he does. Cannot try another computer for day or two but will try .

What was their reputation count, I[ICODE]m with Bastet it[/ICODE]s suspicious.

If they don`t work on another device, ask for your money back.

I am assuming that they are Cd`s because the one story has three discs. none of which play and are ejected during the loading process. I can play them successfully on a portable dvd player.

to Philpower, thank you. The seller has over 500 positives, no neutrals nor negatives so must assume he is legitimate.

Just to recap, these three discs are not downloads but actual properly boxed set all professionally manufactured. My pc plays all other CD[ICODE]s and DVD[/ICODE]s normally.
I have tried using VLC, Windows Media Player with no luck. I cannot download Itunes either from Apple or Microsoft store because I get an error message - no code just says error. my operating system is windows 10. The discs will play on another device.

Another Windows 10 PC/notebook is what you need now then, strange as it may seem what will run on one PCs optical drive will not run on another’s.

At the moment the media looks to be a format that Windows cannot read.

Good news that the disks do work and that the seller has a good rep, looking like bad news for the optical drive being able to read the disks.

Yes I think you are right and that I have reached the end of the road. I will probably resort to buying an external dvd player.
many thanks for your hejp everyone

If you mean the type of DVD player that you hook up to a computer via a USB port.

Test the disks on an alternative Windows 10 computer first, if they don`t work on that they will not work on an external DVD player as it is still Windows 10 running on the PC.
