Computer crashing a lot, and most time it give me a blue page with error message: "WHEA_UNCORRCTABLE_ERROR"...

A lot of times my computer crashes giving me that error, and I couldn’t really find anything on internet… I thought I had to update everything, so I did (drivers too) and everything is now to the latest version, but unfortunately it still continue to give me this error.
Said that not all the time it gives me an error, sometime it just dies while destroying my ears with an incredibly high pitched sound (this happen only when I wear headphones)… and this happen pretty much anytime, sometimes it happens when I start my computer and I wait like a dumbass with the black screen for ages, or when there is the image of the BIOS or when I do anything on the computer.
To be honest this is a really strange problem, that I actually have from nearly two years now, and sometimes (like this week) it is incredibly annoying, and some other times it doesn’t happen for months.
The only way I have to “”“Fix”“” this problem is to close my PC from the button on the case, but sometimes (rarely), it doesn’t work and have to close the PC from the plug, but even if do this I have never lost files of any kind.
That’s also not the only error I get, sometime when I start my PC (most of the time after I had to close it because of that other error), I get a black page where there is written: “reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key”… to fix this I usually either smash a key or click a combination I don’t remember now.

all sounds like a faulty hard drive to me.
how old is the PC or drive at least?

I’d be replacing the current boot drive and installing Win10 afresh from a bootable USB stick with the latest build from Microsoft, using the Windows Media Creation Tool.

My computer is nearly 3 years old.
Thank, but I’m not really sure how to do any of those thing, is there a tutorial, or can I just ask to a mechanic these things and he will know?

get Speccy from here; Speccy - Download Builds

in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste (Ctrl+V) that link into a post.

part of that report will show SMART values for the hard drive - basically giving any hints that the drive may indeed be suspect.

Yes you will need to have and external storage device and would be smart to DO THIS NOW and not wait till the drive becomes a door stop.

nothing in the Speccy report stood out as alarming.
personally, I’d remove Avast simply because it’s crap and Windows 10’s inbuilt Defender is easily as good.

if it was mine, I’d disconnect the Western Digital HDD and just run the PC with the Samsung EVO SSD for a while.
yes, whatever is on D:\ won’t be accessible but this is just to run the rig for a day or two to see if that error goes away. if yes, then D:\ is the problem.
if no, then we dig deeper!

You will not see anything like this recommended on any reputable forum, they are at best a gimmick and at worse a danger to the operating systems registry, it is an old article but the author is still highly respected and tbh Ive not seen it explained better than at the miekiemoes’ Blog

I wanted to ask also if you knew any way to safely update BIOS, without destroying the computer… because I’ve heard that updating the BIOS is a really dangerous thing to do, but that can help in “saving” your PC.

I have never had a BIOS update go bad.
you do hear about it, but I’ve never seen it.
one thing to make sure of, is to never lose power during the firmware upgrade - otherwise they are pretty simple and straight forward.

as to Avast, while I wouldn’t go as far as saying it doesn’t do at least what it states, it certainly does a lot more things it doesn’t state. like harvesting data, offering deals, showing ads for their other products - just general, annoying stuff it shouldn’t. plus it’s simply not needed now there is the inbuilt functionality already offered by Windows.

Avast went pear-shaped when they took over AVG and Piriform.
I’d investigate the option for getting my money back if you want.

There are a lot of pop-ups from Avast’s app, especially when I start the Pc, and random ones that appear on the bottom right of the screen…
well, if I find a way to get the money back I’ll become rich saw how much I paid for the two apps ahahahahahahah!

you can always uninstall Avast, see how things go, and put it on later again.
or install it on to another PC.

but back to the original issue…

open up the case, and you’ll see a Western Digital drive and a Samsung drive - remove the cable from the Western Digital drive, either cable will do the trick, without both the drive won’t be accessible to the system.

the Samsung is your solid state drive and is where your operating system and programs are installed on.
so the PC will still boot and be usable, enough to test if the WHEA errors comes back.
if my guess is right, the WD drive is failing and this should verify that if the error goes away.

while we test this, you won’t be able to access whatever you stored on the WD drive, but you can always turn the PC off, reconnect that cable, reboot and be back to where you were (error and all).

also noticed the Samsung is critical on free space.
you really need to free up a good chunk on that drive, so while it shouldn’t be the cuase of this issue, i certainly couldn’t 100% say that it isn’t.

go to a command prompt, type in cleanmgr /sageset:1 and tick ALL the boxes, hit OK.
then type cleanmgr /sagerun:1 and let it clean up the crap.

also right click the Recycle Bin and reduce its size.
go to Control Panel, System, System Protection, and turn off Restore Points.
delete your Apple backups if you do them.
