Gaming PC crashes when playing and streaming

Hi there, I’m not really tech savvy and have a friend who has tried to help me fix my PC, but it is still having issues, so thought I would try here.

I have a gaming PC with the following specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6GHz 8 Core
Motherboard: MSI X570 Gaming Edge WiFi
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
RAM: Patriot Viper Steel Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3733MHz
Power Supply: Riotoro Enigma G2 750W Modular 80+ Gold

It has been working fine for the last year, however recently when I try to play Rainbow Six Siege on Ubisoft Connect, the game freezes and closes. I sometimes get the error code 0xe0000008, but not always. When the game crashes, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then closes the game. It gets way worse when I launch Streamlabs OBS and try to stream at the same time. I’ve played other games on Ubi and Steam and it doesn’t seem to crash my PC.

I did a stress test on my CPU and it was fine. We also checked my GPU and that came back with no issues. Ram was also checked and no issues. I deleted everything from my PC and did a clean install of Windows. This fixed the issue for a day, however it is back to crashing constantly. We ran the scannow CMD prompt and it found some errors, which it then repaired. This fixed it for a short period (2-3 hours), however it started crashing again.

We checked the event viewer and it showed some random application warnings, but nothing critical.

I’m not sure what else to try and have no idea what is causing the issue, so any help would be appreciated.

Couple of things for your to do for us;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.

Avast is causing various problems, it is no longer recommended by most forums as it has become a bit of a monster, you do not need it in any event, see explanation below;

Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

Once Avast has been correctly uninstalled, check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

So I have just done everything you mentioned and it is still crashing when trying to play and stream at the same time.

Can we have a new Speccy url and MTB log if you will, can you also read the canned information below please.

Software such as Windows can crash and when it does crash you get a BSOD and when enabled a crash dmp is generated, programs or games when they crash can on occasion close to the desktop but the computer will still be 100% functional.

Hardware failure such as a weak power supply and/or overheating are not software related and when a computer for example suddenly turns off or freezes etc the behaviour should be described as the “computer shut down unexpectedly” or froze and not as having crashed as the latter implies a software issue as opposed to an obvious hardware issue when described properly.

Having the correct info means that helpers will not be looking for a software issue when the problem is clearly hardware related.

Let`s see if Windows has generated any crash dmps;

1. Copy any dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump onto the desktop.
2. Select all of them, right-click on one, and click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.
3. Upload the zip folder using the Attach button, bottom left of the dialogue input box

Only the one thing of note in Speccy, you need to go into the BIOS and manually set the RAM speed to 3200MHz.

Regarding the MTB log, Avast has been successfully removed and there are no reported issues since it was removed, hopefully a good sign but Ubisoft software was causing regular problems along with the odd Discord one.

Check to make sure that crash dmps are enabled on the computer, if they are and there are no crash dmps it means that a third party program is crashing which is something that only that software provider can help you with.
