It has Norton, i had ran the โ€œPower eraserโ€ when first acted up, said nothing detected. Does it not detect everything? That will tick me offโ€ฆAlso after running the above, and restarting and updating, will I see any message? or info? thanks

Power eraser removes stubborn malware so doesnโ€™t uninstall Norton.
You need the Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/...ions/v15972972

          Those are correct

Lets see how the system responds after what @Bastet has you do.

What is the BIOS version you are running?

What did you use to install Windows 10?

You would uninstall Norton then run the Norton remove & reinstall tool, choosing remove only under advanced options.
Uninstall MalwareBytes & also running their removal tool, then restart the PC & then try updating again.

If you posted a screenshot then it didnโ€™t work. What program is stating thereโ€™s a problem?

Malwarebytes, a results box on screen was running, at end it just had that result, and quaritneen option. Locale-HKLM software wow 64 be23-99791bff87d6, thatโ€™s everything it showed. Thatโ€™s not the/a problem then I guess?

Is that the removal tool or the anti malware program. It doesnโ€™t sound right to me.

Ur right, totally forgot about the malware removal tool, that was after I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran it. That popped up at end. I forgot about the removal tool, and just uninstalled thru programs. Fawk, I didnโ€™t notice anything else from prompts to do. Iโ€™ll have to redo late tonight, or at least try to doโ€ฆ

Yes you need to fully remove the av software with their removal tool. Then try updating again.

im lost. I pulled malewarebytes back up, the support tool, under advanced, has 3 columns, gather logs, Clean, and Repair system with 4 boxes to check. I did not see this when i ran first time, but im sure it was same site as the emblem is the same. Also dont see an uninstall tool at this point. Do i need to start completelty over and remove Norton again, and run this mbytes with these columns under โ€œsupport toolโ€? thx

I asked you to uninstall any antivirus software to see if this is the cause of the inability to download updates. May I ask why youโ€™ve reinstalled Norton? You would need to removal all AV software to ensure these are not preventing the download & install from happening.
There should be an option to clean uninstall but not reinstall.
